I had high hopes for this place... especially with it being so close to home. I had never noticed it before I saw it advertised on Groupon. The deal on Groupon was for an appetizer, two entrees, and a desert for $20... truly a great deal. Most of the reviews seemed positive as well... so I was excited to finally have an opportunity to go. Unfortunately, my experience sucked. Our waitress was very pleasant: she took our drink order shortly after we were seated, and once she returned we ordered our appetizer (along with our drinks came chips and salsa -- the salsa was very delicious) -- the guacamole. The menu said the guacamole was made table-side, which would make you think, logically, that the ingredients would come out relatively quickly. No. Twenty-five minutes and several apologies later it finally showed up -- a bowl of ingredients which the waitress mixed together. Each time we had asked what the hold-up was we were told she was waiting for the kitchen to put the ingredients together; they were backed up (the restaurant didn't seem too busy -- there were several empty tables) -- this reasoning baffled us. Shouldn't something that gets made at your table be easy to pull together in the kitchen? Then the wait began for our entrees. It was just about 70 minutes (!) from the time we first sat down until the time the entrees arrived on the table. The waitress apologized several times in-between (again, she was very pleasant); we also asked to speak to the manager at one point (he too was very pleasant and apologetic -- but at this point it was kind of pointless; my impression of the restaurant was so negative I really could only think of walking out). The entrees, once they finally arrived looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. But, because of the overall experience I simply could not enjoy the food. The manager offered to comp the entire meal and asked that we give them another chance by returning to use the Groupon another time. I'm not sure if that is going to happen or not... I'll need to get in a charitable and forgiving mood for that to happen... What made the whole experience worse: there was a family of four who sat down about thirty minutes after us at the table adjacent to ours; they were done with their appetizers, entrees, and dessert -- then paid the check -- before we even got our dessert! Very frustrating. Restaurants misplace orders, get busy, have an off night... etc., etc. Perhaps this was just the "perfect storm" which effected our experience. The staff we dealt with were certainly nice, and the food did taste good... so who knows. If you go... good luck.

My husband and I visited T'KiLa last night for the first time for a dinner date and we were NOT disappointed. First the good stuff - the guacamole is a MUST. It's made very quickly at your table and I love that they showed us the ingredients in the mortar before mashing it up. It was DELICIOUS. I thought the flavor was spot on, although my husband prefers a little bit more of the lime to come through - I'm sure we could ask for more lime juice next time. The salsa that came with the chips was perfect - I love that it wasn't very chunky and had a fantastic spicy kick to it. My husband ordered the carne asada. The flavor was different than others we have tried and was VERY good, seasoned well with very authentic spices and served with equally well cooked vegebtables. I got the chicken mole, which came with black beans and a side of spanish rice, served over fried plantains. I'm personally not a huge cooked banana/plantain fan, so I didn't eat the plantains but the flavor of the mole was a great savory/sweet combo and the chicken portion was just right. The rice was a little bland but the beans were cooked well. My favorite part of the meal was the mojito - the best way to explain how good it was is that as soon as I took my first sip, I felt transported back to Miami and Puerto Rico! It was extremely authentic and SO delicious - I had two and kind of wanted a third, but at that point, I didn't want to look like a complete lush :) My husband got the mango lemonade, which was also very fresh and tasted amazing. It had little chunks of mango that I was fishing out at the end of the night! The service was also very good - we were checked on by our server and two of the managers throughout the night and they were very friendly and polite. Now for the bad and really, the only reasons why I took it down a star (I'd only take half a star off if I could since these really are minor in my eyes) - if you can even call it bad, as opposed to really just minor things they can easily fix. The decor is definitely lacking. This place used to a Japanese hibachi restaurant and the current ownership left the fixtures in place, so you can definitely see the "Asian influence." The area by the bar is also completely empty; I imagine if they ever get to that point, that space would make a great dance floor but right now it just looks a little awkward and unfinished. The main dining room where the hibachi grills used to be is massive, now that it's just filled with four-tops and a few longer tables in the middle - they definitely have some opportunity for decor improvement and separation in the actual dining room (I watch a lot of Restaurant Impossible). The walls are also bare - there's two small TVs in the front half of the restaurant. They need to add a third to the last area to balance it out and if anything, order some newer, bigger ones to take up more of the expansive wall space. There's a handful of Mexican knickknacks when you first walk in, but there's a lot of decor potential. The menus are also pretty simple - I imagine it's just a simple Word document printed on heavy stock paper. They can do something as simple as add some color and laminate the paper to make it a bit more professional. The final "issue" is that the guac came out a little slow (I assume they prep to order though, to ensure freshness, so I didn't mind), we had to ask for our chips to dip the guacamole in, and the chips were a bit too salty. I know our server only has two hands to carry the heavy mortar with, and we were totally fine with that - we just expected that after he was done making the guac, that he would come right back with the chips and salsa and he didn't - I actually saw him at the server station at one of the POS systems. We asked one of the managers who checked up on us and then we got the chips a minute or two later. Perhaps he was just waiting for a fresh batch to come out, but he didn't tell us, so that added to our "umm...are we getting chips?" feeling. The salty chips didn't really bother me but my husband is a bit pickier so he mentioned it and made a face, until I told him to just shake or brush off the excess! Again...aside from some really minor aesthetics, this place is fantastic. So happy to have some authentic Latin/Mexican flavors in our little neighborhood and this is a great addition. We will definitely be back and hopefully T'KiLa drums up enough business to earn some money to put back into the decor and really develop it's own identity. Highly recommend!

I would recommend this restaurant. I tried it because of a Groupon, and am glad I did. My wife and I really enjoyed a number of things: The guacamole, made at your table- fresh and delicious. The banana empanadas for dessert- a unique and unexpected treat. Those were five stars, and the chicken enchiladas and vegetable fajitas were a solid four. The service- quick, friendly, and when I had an issue with my phone in redeeming the Groupon, they honored it anyway and asked me to mark it as used when I got home. I will definitely go here again.

My wife and I visited on a Saturday night, and after reading the other reviews, had high expectations. Perhaps too high. The tequila list was sufficient, and the menu had a good variety. We had the stuffed plantain, which was tasty but not at all what I envisioned. I'd get that again. The table side guacamole was a big disappointment. It had been prepped hours ahead, with the lava bowl containing peeled avocado, some minced onions and cilantro, and unfortunately tomatoes. Refrigerating the tomatoes killed its flavor and made for a watery guacamole that lacked any real zip. The chips and house salsa were good. Overall the entrees were good. The chicken enchiladas were very good, fajitas disappointed. In general, we found it to be a bit bland and unmemorable. Our server was friendly and efficient. We had hoped to fall in love with this place, despite being a 40 min drive. Unfortunately, it was over-rated by yelpers, and I believed the hype.

I ordered take out from T'Kila on Sunday night (5/6), and I thought the enchiladas were excellent and the mild guacamole was pretty darn good! We went in during happy hour the next day to get more guacamole (take out), and the bartender didn't even ask how we wanted it prepared. We got home and the chips weren't the nice tri-colored ones and the guacamole was bland. Based on my in person visit, the service was pretty crappy! The wait staff didn't seem too engaged nor were they personable. Make sure you're specific when you place your to go order or you might end up with something less than stellar! BTW, the place was empty, so there's no excuse for not providing outstanding service!
(3)Suzi E.
Yum! The made at your table guacamole was great and the chips came out nice a warm. The server recommend the Mar Y Tierra and it was truly enjoyed. We also had the pork carnitas...also wonderful. Check this place out. They also have great happy hour specials!

I agree with the writer about the high stars here. I'd love to like the place more but there is still a bit of work to be done. First we were seated in the lobby area where a table was moved to accommodate us. It was uncomfortable but we were hungry and they seemed to want to seat us very quickly. Maybe if there were a couple more tables there it wouldn't have been so bad. Starting with the chips, unfortunately the ones on the bottom were overheated and dark brown. Also some were too salty. Not that bad but even my son commented on some of them. I really liked the salsa, it was spicy though and some at the table couldn't eat it. They brought a smaller one for the kids which was less spicy. We got the guacamole too and it was the best part of the meal for me. Simply perfect in my opinion and we got the less spicy version. The rest of the meal was very tasty and seemed fresh (aside from the peas like someone else mentioned) and they make a point of letting you know when you order since it might take a little longer to make. Although tasty, the portions of the entrees we selected were small for the price. Not a morsel of food was left behind. The only other gripe about the food for me was that there were a lot of fresh diced onions which were too strong for me, which I realize is a personal taste. I will ask to omit next time if possible. Finally I agree with the others about the decor, hopefully they get a chance to upgrade a bit.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant on a whim. It was a Friday night and we were actually planning on eating burgers at Glory Days when we learned of the long wait. We were apprehensive when we first walked into T'Kila because of the lack of decor and limited menu (my hubby loves having choices but it doesn't bother me because I'm so indecisive!!) as well as the lack of people. But we decided to give it a try. We didn't realize it but that night was the grand opening. The wait staff was great as were the managers but almost a little too attentive. The chips tasted like fritos (yuck!) but when we went back for a second (and third!) time the chips were much better. We learned from the manager on our second visit that they had changed their chip recipe and were actually now making them in house. The guacamole, carne asade and plantains are to die for! The food portions are enormous and everything is delicious. My hubby loves the watermelon juice; it tastes fresh squeezed. I actually went back another time with a girl friend and her three year old son. The little boy loved the guacamole and his ice cream that came with his kids meal. The only reason I didn't give this a five star rating was because of the decor. I know that the restaurant was just recently a Japanese steakhouse and I imagine once T'Kila starts making money they will renovate. Just writing this review has made me crave T'Kila's carne asada so hubby and I just ordered delivery! Yes! This place delivers! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!

Eating at this place was the compelling event for me to finally join Yelp. I came with a party of 4 on a Saturday around 4:30pm. We were promplty greeted, seated, and had drinks within minutes (granted, it was pretty slow in there). The Mojitos & Margaritas were strong and tasted great. I recommend the fresh guacamole, queso, empanadas and pork carnitas. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive and very friendly. For authentic Mexican in the area, it doesn't get any better.
(5)Vikram K.
Really good food and friendly service. I hope we get more restaurants like this.
(5)Shievonne F.
Recently ate this this bar. It was very disappointing. We had the fish and chicken tacos. Just tasted bland. The chips and salsa were the only good part about the meal.

Tonight was our second visit to T'Kila Latin Kitchen and the level of service and quality of food we enjoyed warrants five stars - we also came here about a month ago and would have rated that visit as three stars due to the service. Barbara was our waitress tonight and she was fantastic - our drinks and appetizer came out quickly and our food was delicious and customized without any problems. The manager also checked on us a couple times during our meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back/recommending to others!

Oh my, this place was great. We've been looking for a great new Mexican place after moving from the West Coast. And I think we found it. Everything was great... we had the fresh table made guacamole, all of the homemade sauces, the great flavors from the fajitas (wife had that), and the steak and shrimp (that was my entree), and the two margaritas. Didn't notice that the chips were stale. We will be back!
(5)Dean Z.
Really good happy hour place. Fresh chips, good salsa, good appetizer menu. This place could be so much more. Spend a little bit on decor and some music and it would be top notch. The bar area is nice, but they could add several more tables so folks would not need to wait. Get rid of the clutter of tables and chairs in the back and add a musician or a large TV for sports. The food is good, so we'll keep going back. Just wish the owners would take a step back and see what this could be.
(5)Barika P.
Food was yummy! Food was well seasoned and fresh. I had the cheese enchiladas..delish!!

My wife and I have now eaten here several times. Many times along with our daughter and son in law. We have seen steady improvement since opening day. The service and food have improved and they now have new high tables in the bar area and many new low top tables in the dining area. I think any future patrons will enjoy the new seating arrangement. We always sit in the bar area to take advantage of the happy hour pricing. Margaritas are only $3.00 each and the casadias are only $2.00 (appetizer portion) and come cheese or chicken. They are excellent. Sometimes we fill up on the appetizers. Last night I also ordered chicken fajitas and they were excellent. I believe that, as most places, T'Kila's had a slow start, but I believe they are getting their act together. We enjoy talking to the wait staff and the owners. Along with Ciro's, we now have two very nice places to dine in Stone Ridge. After dining last night I told the waiter how much we enjoy this place, and also told him I was going to follow up with a posting in Yelp. If you read my other postings you will notice that I pretty much call them as I see them, and for us, this place is hitting a home run. We will be back, and T'Kila's, I hope you are here to stay. Learn from those who offer constructive criticism, continue to make improvements, treat your customers as you have treated me, and you will be a success. If you do experience a problem, please ask to speak withy the owner. I believe he will be quick to make any adjustment necessary. Blessings.

I went in blind (didn't check Yelp first) and hungry with my son around 5pm last Wednesday. Place was pretty empty and it appeared the it may of just opened due to the lack of decor. The service was good and the food was even better! Chips and salsa arrived shortly after we sat down. The salsa was spicy just the way I like it! I ordered the chicken enchiladas (2) which came with green and red sauce, refried black beans and rice. My son had the carne asada (med) with beans a tamale. The enchiladas turned out amazing probably some of the best I have had in the past few months (I eat Mexican at least every other week) and the my son said the tamale was the BEST he had ever had! I think what I liked the most was that the meals were not super-sized. They were perfect portions of really good food! I will definitely be returning to this little gym in the strip mall!

Amazing food, and so glad that my fiancee and I are now locals who can enjoy this gem of a restaurant in Aldie!!!! I absolutely love their tableside guacamole, and we've both now tried their carne asada, with the awesome little sweet corn tamales. What fantastic flavors in the chimichurri, and the beef itself was a perfect medium rare. I'm a pretty easy-going foodie, as well as a Mexican food and steak lover. I'll eat Chipotle pretty regularly, I admit, and don't really care for margaritas, but give me a good Dos Equis amber and I'm good. These guys do Mexican food the right way - from scratch, with NORMAL portion-sizes! No Cheesecake Factory-sized plates, which is so great and refreshing, but that being said, if you want to pay for a giant bucket of food, maybe you won't like this place so much. Also good Happy Hour specials, with small plates, to sample other delicious offerings. Can't wait to see what other great tastes they have up their sleeve in the coming months, even their basic salsa is great - with chips seasoned with some yummy spices!

We went to t'KiLa early on a Friday night. The staff was friendly, but the service was slow (given how the restaurant wasn't busy yet). I judge a Mexican restaurant's food based on the chips-and-salsa as well as the carnitas. t'KiLa had very good chips, but the salsa was far too sweet... now, I wasn't trying to burn my digestive tract, but the salsa had zero "kick" and seemed like a pasta sauce in terms of sweetness. The carnitas, now they were disappointing. It was as if they had baked/microwaved the pulled pork you get from an 8oz container (sold in a grocery store's refrigerated section) and topped it with some pico de gallo. This did not meet my expectations, given the carnitas dishes prepared by other Mexican restaurants in Loudoun and Fairfax County. Finally, about the facilities - the floors were very clean, but perhaps too clean... because the table and chairs were slip-sliding away. Also, the chair legs felt like they were flimsily attached and about ready to snap off, and that's coming from a guy who weighs 150 pounds. Two stars because of the friendly staff and the chips, but the rest of our experience was less than impressive.
(2)Jason G.
As a local I can't complain about the food but the service has a long way to go. Took a long time to get our food and even longer to get the check and the place was about 50% full. Understand it is important to talk to your customers but there was entire stories being told as we sat right in front of our server for at least 10 minutes waiting on the bill. Like I said decent food and more stars would have come if he service was on par.
(3)Melissa H.
For a brand new place, it was wonderful! We met the manager Jose on our first visit and he was very nice/helpful My Favorite -- The Guacamole!! They make it fresh and even my kids eat it (This is a huge accomplishment). We ask for spicy sauce on the side and we mix it in on our plate so the kids aren't affected. White Sangria & Strawberry Margarita - I loved the sangria! The margarita was good. They said they made their own sour mix for the margarita. Beef Tongue Tacos - Excellent... I know you may be judging these tacos if you've never had tongue... but imagine a VERY tender pot roast or shredded beef. It is amazing. I highly encourage everyone to try it. They lost 1 star for: Sopapillas were verrrry crispy to the point of breaking when you bite them and during a busy weeknight, the food isn't very quick. Great for kids!!! This place lets children pick out 5 different crayons, has flavored mango or strawberry lemonade as a drink choice, and serves ice cream as part of the kids meal. Overall - I loved it. This place is a GREAT addition to the south riding/ aldie area, where restaurants come and go faster than you can blink. I look forward to being a regular here!
(4)Chris R.
Ok, I love this place. The guacamole is wonderful and the margarita bar/happy hour is amazing. I almost always get the beef tongue tacos and they are wonderful. The tongue is shredded not chopped which makes all the difference. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was service was a little slow. But I'm will to trade it for great food.
(4)Bill T.
Great service, food and beautiful servers, wink! wink! Would recommend to a friend.
(5)Heather T.
The guac freshly made at the table was so good. I may go back just for that. A group of my friends and I went and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was almost perfect and the food was very good as well.
(4)Michael G.
We went to T'Kila for dinner tonight and it was wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were yummy. The platter had two enchiladas; one with a red sauce and one with a green sauce. They were both fantastic. My daughter had the carne asada and she loved it. The white sangria was delicious also. We will be adding T'kila to our list of Saturday night dinning out places.
(5)Marie H.
What a disaster. We showed up at 6:30 last night and the door just opened. Was about half full and after an hour and half nobody had their main meals. Four tables of guests including us walked out. Where was the manager? They should have gone around and explained what was going on. Been there twice before and this was our last attempt. They need to shut down and let someone who knows how to run a business take over.
(1)Joan L.
Tried this restaurant out for the first time....My husband and I thought the food was delicious! We had Queso Fundido for an appetizer, a little different , cheesy delicious. Our main entrees were fajita and enchiladas. Both excellent and we had the refried black beans, sooo good. The salsa was also good and you can order an appetizer of guacomole made at your table. I gave a four out of five only because they did not have booths. My hubby was happy to watch basketball though. We finished our meal with a banana empanada. Please do not hesitate to come to this restaurant, great attentive staff too!
(4)Kali P.
I got the Living Social deal and was excited to find a place that had homemade Mexican food. The food was ok, definitely not exceptional . The guacamole needed lime, salt and pepper as it was quite bland. I ordered the shrimp diablo which was supposed to be very spicy. The waitress told me someone was eating it the other day and their face turned red because of the spice level. That was fine with me, when it finally came (more on that later) it had zero spice level to it. I don't know if they forgot to add something but on a spice level of 1-10 it was 0. My fiancé got the pork carnitas and said it was decent, an hour later he wasn't feeling too good and felt bloated. The restaurant had 3 tables with people when we arrived and it took over 1 1/2 hours for our food to come. The appetizer (guacamole) took 30 min to come. I think we were forgotten about because she came way later asking what we ordered again. One couple seated next to us came after we arrived, ordered, ate and left almost before our food even arrived. As others stated the waitresses were nice but not trained properly on basic waiting. We had to flag her down for drinks, chips, limes after a while I didn't even bother asking for salt. If I had to pay the actual prices that were listed I would have been upset since all in all it wasn't worth it. Needless to say this was my first and last time coming here. There is potential here but they have a way to go before I would come back.
(2)Frank J.
Horrible service, even with 2 waitresses.. Decent food!
(2)Aaron F.
The Carne Asada ($14.95) was to die for. Flavorful, lean and filling. Reasonable prices and impeccable service.
(5)Ashley H.
I think this place is great! I have been three times now on a groupon or living social deal. They offer them frequently as they have been working hard to advertise their business. This seems to be a family owned, friendly place. Food is authentic, fresh, and the workers are extremely friendly. This is such a gem in the Stone Ridge neighborhood! Who would have thought that an authentic mexican restaurant would exist here. The drinks are good and are made pretty strong, and I hear that they have live entertainment on some weekends. They offer Groupons and living social deals often - I suggest you get there fast!
(5)Hank F.
I live 2 minutes away and I prefer to take my money to El Fresco down in Chantilly. Main reason being T'KiLa Latin Kitchen & Bar is under-serviced. It's even worse when you go in with a Groupon or a local coupon. Bar service is fine but table service is slow and underwhelming. Food is good but like another reviewer said, be prepared to wait.
(2)Shane S.
This restaurant is a great gem! As other reviews indicate, it is a no frills delicious restaurant with great folks! To me, it was better than the typical "Super Mexican" restaurants with the usual fare and music you normally find. It is a treat of something more authentic. Will be back and do recommend!
(4)Lenny G.
JC, the owner is always there. Great service mentality from whole staff and best food in Stoneridge!
(5)Alex K.
Amazing... We had to eat in tonight and decided to try take-out from T'kila and it was amazing. We had skirt steak fajita's, shredded chicken empanadas, and stuffed plantains with chicken, cheese and some amazing sauce. We tried this place a year or so ago and we thought it was a little bland but we were very wrong. Everyone there is very polite and the food is great. We will most likely go there tomorrow and eat there. I'm sure the food will be even more amazing there. If you are interested in very authentic Mexican food in this area, you mus try this place. Thank you...
(5)Rob C.
Closer to 3.5 but since the food itself was so good, I gave it 4 stars. There was about a 20 minute wait so we sat at the bar. The bad - Was about 5 min before anyone even acknowledged us. But after the bartender realized were sitting there, she apologized and the rest of the service was good. Chips were too thick and tasted like they came out of a back. The salsa was not salty enough... almost felt like I was eating marinara sauce. We ordered table side guacamole and flavor was good but a little on the salty side. The good - Everyone there was friendly and aside from the hiccup at the beginning, service was quick, efficient and friendly. I ordered the Carne asada and shrimp and my wife got the shrimp and steak fajitas. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted quite good, the carne asada was season and seared perfectly with med-rare in the middle, just like I asked for it. For the main entree alone, I will return.
(4)Sam R.
Bad, overpriced food. For the amount you pay you'd expect better quality or at least better TASTE. And the portions were ridiculously small. The service was HORRIBLE. We went in with a groupon and as soon as the waitress saw that we brought that in her attitude completely changed and she acted like she couldn't care less about us since we weren't bringing in more money. Needless to say, I will never be going back.
(1)Kelly K.
Enjoyed the chicken quesadillas and a mojito during happy hour at the spacious bar listening to merengue on a great sounding sound system. The chips and salsa that came free were not good though. I will return to have dinner sometime soon.
(4)Patrick C.
We really enjoyed our first visit. They could improve the decor/ambience but the food is what counts and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back.
(4)Jill B.
Stopped here for lunch today and was not disappointed. Based on the prior reviews, we tried the guacamole made at the table, and it was excellent. If the diners don't agree on how spicy to make it, they will bring a side dish of spicy sauce to mix in, and it was delicious. We ordered the FRESH watermelon juice and FRESH lemonade, both of which were to die for. Then Carne Asada (mashed potatoes!) and chicken fajitas, topped off with flan and banana empanadas for dessert. I can't say enough good things about the food, and the desserts were the perfect size. Additionally, service was knowledgeable and very attentive without being overbearing, and the manager (owner?) checked in with us several times as well. Everything felt very authentic, but I'll defer to those with Latin roots. The only reason I am not giving it the fifth star YET is because the ambiance must be a work in progress - when we first walked in, it almost felt like we shouldn't be there... vacuous space... which is probably great if you come with kids that want to run laps around the restaurant while you're dining. I'll be happy to upgrade to five stars when the interior is completed. I hope t'kila is here to stay!
(4)Sean R.
I would have liked to have given this place 4 stars, but I found the waitress to be completely rude and so the service definitely impacted my review. . We first arrived and our waitress tried to sit us in this tiny two-person table in the dark pressed up against a wall. When I requested to be sat at a different table that was better lit, she replied "You really need that big table just for two people?" Strike 1. As far as the decor, this place looked great! Especially the bar which was decorated with a lot of cool Mexican stuff. It would be nice if they had booths though, they only had tables. The food preparation was also visually appealing and presented on fancy plates. For appetizers, we ordered grilled chicken quesadillas and tamales. My tamale was served w/ green sauce which I was not asked for my preference of red or green, nor was there a description in the menu of what sauce it would come with. When I asked the waitress to please bring the tamales out with red sauce, she rolled her eyes and said "let me see what the kitchen can do". Strike 2. Finally, after quite a long time (almost an hour) our steak fajitas came out. The only complaint I have about this dish is that it did not come with cheese. Otherwise the meat was very tender and flavorful. The guacamole it was served with was also superb. In summary, a cool looking restaurant with decent food and bad service. Although I can say there was a very friendly man (most likely the owner) who greeted everyone personally and I liked that he took the time to get to know first time diners. The wait staff must be improved though. I'm not sure if I would return after this first experience.

Service: 5 Fantastic, Claudia was AWESOME!!! Food: 5 - WOW - Wife had Shrimp Diablo - fantastic, I had Carne Asada - cooked to perfection, Daughter had Taquitos - sweet!. Sopapilla for dessert and some oh so good sangria (red). One pitcher wasn't enough, wanted more but had to drive, oh well, just have to keep going back. Decor: Okay - I don't really care, food and service was awesome. Props to Juan & Claudia !!! Oh and real mexican - Mole is at the top!

Have gone here twice - friendly service, and all ingredients are prepared in house. J.C. was very helpful and the pork was absolutely amazing.

Worse service ever! The waitress could of cared less about our group of four just because we had a groupon. We decided to give her only $10 of tip on a $100+ bill...but she deserved nothing at all...we were nice enough to give her a tip. She followed us out and demanded a higher tip while making a scene. We ended up talking to the manager and got the meal for free and the waitress was sent home.

I really like this place! It's always empty for some reason, which makes me nervous. Come on, guys... visit T'Kila! The food, drinks and service are great. Excellent margaritas and the most delicious guacamole I've ever had (tableside kind is a must-have!).
(5)Karen K.
I've been here several times now and have never been disappointed. They don't have a huge menu but everyone should be able to find something they like. We've tried nearly everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Just go!
(5)David M.
Great new addition to the area. The staff is very customer service oriented; the service was great. Their chips and salsa were good and their carne asada was good as well. Their fried plantains were amazing. They have regular happy hours at very good prices. Will plan to go again soon to see how the place grows.
(4)Thomas H.
Food was very good and creative. Service was not so good, serving appetizer and entrees at the same time and very quickly. Food quality made up for service problems. We will try again.
(4)Abhishek B.
Spicy Guacamole made at ur table by a very gracious host.. Good food and awesome guava mojitos!
(4)C H.
Where to start? Service is SO SLOW. Count on being at the restaurant for 2-3 hours. Who has time for that? The food is good, but not great. The wait staff is quite rude. No one accepts the blame for the wait- way too many excuses. Salsa is so-so. I rate a mexican resturant by their salsa. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Take-out is not the way to go either- too long of a wait after you arrive. Could be a great place if managed properly. Not going back.

Amazing mojitos and margaritas made from scratch! Enchilada plate was not greasy and had tons of flavor.

I normally don't write reviews but in this instance I had to. Are we so hard up for good restaurants and service in South Loudoun that we think T'Kila is worthy of 5 stars? 4 adults and 2 children shouldn't have to wait over an hour for under seasoned entrees. The guacamole and salsa were the only bright spots, but not bright enough. I'll give them some leeway because they are new, but you should be staffed properly for a Friday night dinner service...no excuses. At our table 2 people ordered enchiladas, the cheese enchilada appeared and tasted like a block of cheese wrapped in a tortilla. The carne asada was cooked well but barely seasoned at all and the pork carnitas were not much better. Those reviewers who said they only use the freshest ingredients must not have had any frozen peas in their rice as we did. Our family had such high hopes based on the reviews and we were extremely disappointed at the end of our meal. We may give them one more shot, but it won't be for a while; hopefully they can get things together.

T'Kila Latin Kitchen & Bar. Not the same quality or quantity of food as "Rio Grande", much more comparable to "Anita's". They made the Guac at the table in front of us,,,major plus. The location is big inside and there aren't enough tables to fill it up so it seems a bit thrown together, just tables and TVs on the wall (strange layout inside),,,not much else in there. Staff was nice, service was quick, it was clean inside. It appears to be a family biz,,,they say they make everything (guac, salsa, etc) from family recipes fresh on site. I had cheese enchiladas (very good), wife had fish tacos (very good), refried beans were a little thin and runny, iced tea was warm and immediately melted the ice in the glass and from then forward the refills had no ice in them. Regarding the comments above, I agree with chips seeming like they were out of a store-bought bag (too thick, not warm, not oily like the ones at Rio Grande) and the salsa wasn't chunky, it was more like tomato sauce. We live within a mile of this place and are very happy that there is now a decent Mexican Food option available that doesn't require a drive down Rt50 to somewhere in Fairfax. Dinner for 2 including 2 entre's and guac appetizer $38. We enjoyed it and will go back for sure.

Great new addition to the neighborhood (well, the strip mall). The guacamole, carne asada, chicken fajitas, and margaritas were all great. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The service was impeccable -- almost to the point of being overbearing -- but that's partly because we were there early and there weren't a ton of people there yet. Very happy to have a good Mexican place in the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. (except maybe the beef tongue taco....)
(5)H B.
Great New Latin Place! Friendly Staff! Will be offing over 30 types of Tequila! Great Food!
(4)Shrute B.
Fantastic experience every time. The food is unlike any other Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is fresh and substantial. The Mole is out of this world. I wish they would sink some money into improving the decor/interior. But the food, staff, and drinks are worth stopping in often.
(5)Amanda R.
Delightful mexican type food. The guacamole was really excellent as was the chile relleno and the carnitas. Loved the black beans as well. Also well done margarita. Service was great. My only complaint - it's a little pricey for what you get. Definitely going again!
(4)Phil F.
Service was quick and food was fresh. The flavors are a little different than what we find on the west coast, but we enjoyed everything we ate. The leche cake with caramel was amazing.
(4)G. M.
Love love love the food - authentic, fresh, and really tasty. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Server's recommendations spot on - Tostadas were AMAZING! Margheritas are the best around. Will be back soon!
(5)Jena M.
Awesome fresh food! Great service! White sangria to die for!!!! Definitely will visit at least once a week!!!! Hope its here to stay!
(5)J M.
My husband & I had lunch today at T"Kila's for the firs time. I had the Chicken Fajita's & my husband had a saled with grilled chicken. Everything was fresh & delicious. The salsa was great. Will go back again. Want to try the margarita's. Highly recommend this place!!!

Went Sat night. Excellent food and service.

This was our second and probably last visit. It started badly with the hostess telling us it would be a 25 minute wait unless we took a bar table. Reluctantly we did sit in the bar but shortly after, several regular tables became available. There was no offer to reseat us even though we had not been served anything yet. Which leads to next issue, the food was slow and our request for additional chips was ignored. Manager claimed that kitchen was very busy but then they should at least bring out more chips. I ordered carne asada medium rare but it came medium well. Worst, there seemed to have been lots of MSG in the food since we both had heartburn/headache less than an hour later. The place is very noisy and they definitely prefer steering everyone to the high bar tables. The manager does ask how things are, but that still does not make up for the poor performance. For the finale, we had to wait again for the check and payment. Service and food do not measure up to the prices.

Horrible service. We enjoy trying new places, but this was a huge disappointment. The waitress rolled her eyes several times when we inquired about the status of our food-- waited 40 minutes before we got our entrees. In addition, when the food arrived it was cold--cold meat, rice and beans. I do not recommend this place. They have got to figure out how to handle volume and serve their customers.

This is the 1st review i've ever written on yelp, but I felt i had to because the food at this new restaurant was so good! We got take out from there last night. After reading all the reviews I decided to get the carne asada cooked medium. It was delicious and full of flavor! My wife and sister-in law each got the fish tacos and loved theirs too. We also got an order of the spicy guacamole and chips since everyone has been raving about them. They definitely had some heat to them which I loved, my wife thought it was a little spicy for her taste. We all agreed it had great flavor. Finally I could only give it 4 stars because when I ordered over the phone I was told it would take about 25-30 min and it took closer to 45 min or more. I did go at the peak of dinner time on a Sat night, but I wasn't waiting for a table, just the food. It did however give me a chance to get a mojito while I was waiting. I'm usually a beer drinker but that was a pretty good mojito. This place will be a 5 star soon with a little time!
(4)Mariam B.
Great food, Great Service. Enjoyed going there. Highly recommend this place. Our order was made very custom since we wanted more veg options, so we enjoyed it! We really needed a great Mexican restaurant in our Stone Ridge, VA neighbourhood. You should absolutely go there!
(5)Clarissa B.
Delicious. I wouldn't have expected such tasty food in a strip mall far from the beaten path. A very welcome addition to the area. We had the carne asada and carnitas. Both were excellent. The white sangria was amazing. The mashed potatoes that came with the carne asada were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be visiting again. Service was a bit slow, but I'll chalk that up to being new and fairly crowded. The price is a bit high, but the food is very tasty.
(5)Abeer A.
the food is absolutely nice. i have come back a second time and brought my sister .. and then brought my mother and my other sister.. only complaint is about the service. or maybe it's just one server that we get each time we go there? first time it was acceptable since i guess the manager came and apologized and got us the correct thing second time she just had a rude attitude.. which made me a bit embarrassed because i've been urging them to come and try the food. I thought probably she had a bad day or something. third time, she was still rude if not worse than before. the knocked my straw off the glass, didn't say anything till i asked for a new one. while making the table side guacamole, it was supposed to be entertaining but even my family who i brought with me commented on her attitude. when she was taking the menus away i just wanted to let her know we'd be ordering dessert later on, she made it a huge story, her tune of speech the whole time was superior and made me feel uncomfortable as if she thinks i don't know much. i'd be reluctant to bring more guests to this place.
(2)Frankie M.
This place is amazing! Chef-owned and family-run! They only use the freshest, home-made ingredients and you can really, really tell. There is no better Latin/ Mexican food in NOVA!
(5)Ian C.
What a great find in Aldie. Next to Glory Days T'KiLa serves an excellent selection of typical, and not so typical mexican and Latin fare. What shoen for us was the freshness of the food, the excellent flavors and the friendly and helpful service. Clearly this is still anew restaurant trying to find its feet. The decor really needs work, and the restaurant does somewhat lack in atmosphere. However the quality and the food more than makes up for that. So what's good? As many others have said the guacomle, made table side, really is a standout. Serviced mild, medium or spicy to your taste, it is creamy and delicious. Definetly the best guac we have had outside of Rosa Mexicana, and arguably better than that. We also tried the chicken mole and the pork carnitas. Both were excellent, the mole sauce perfectly complementing the grilled chicken and the pork shoulder tender and succulent. The prices are very reasonable ($50 for two for an appetizer, two entrees, two beers and a lemonade) Overall a great local find with mexican food much better than the usual run of the mill place. Lacking in decor but certanly not lacking in tasty food. This place is a winner!
(4)Evanna S.
My husband and I went for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by what we found! The food, from the table-side made guacamole, to our meals, to dessert were fresh, authentic in flavor and delicious! The service was excellent, the owner is very friendly, and the establishment is spotless! We'll be returning again and again. :-)

Forgettable, over-priced, under-serviced - based on two visits. I'm surprised by the number of positive reviews - seriously there is such a dearth of decent Mexican food in NoVA that I think people's taste for Mexican is skewed; the food here is of dubious origins, the service not good and the dishes poorly cooked. The most frustrating part is that on both occasions we visited, we had to flag down the server multiple times each visit for the to order, to pay the bill, etc. The first time we visited was early on a Friday afternoon when we were just one of a few tables. The second time was genuinely busy, both times the service was bad. Two of our orders at our second visit were incorrect, and on the first a chicken dish was undercooked - pink in the middle. Fine for beef, not so much for yard bird. Needless to say, we won't be revisiting. I applaud them for trying, I am guessing the operator is new to the industry and is genuinely trying to meet a demand in the market - good Mexican, but this place is a misfire.

If you are coming to t'kila for dinner, be sure to eat before you go. We stopped in for lunch, and there were 3 other tables seated in this very large, very empty and dark restaurant. Our waitress did explain that everything there was fresh and homemade to order before we had a chance to even sit down. This excited us because, come on, who doesn't like food to order? But we only stopped in for a light lunch and ordered appetizers and sodas only. It took over an hour for quesadillas and nachos. In fact, our party commented amongst ourselves that we had to wait for the corn to grow to make the chips! When we did get our waitress's attention (even for refills on our drinks we had to flag her down and it certainly did not look like they were busy) she gave us a look and explained to us very slowly that she did tell us everything was homemade and would we like more chips? (Which would have been our 4th basket.) The food, when it arrived, had a wonderful flavor, which added a star to my review. However, the salsa tasted not fresh and not homemade. It tasted very "tinny", as if they had opened cans and dumped into a blender and whizzed it up to place on the table. (Tell me you can't tell the difference between fresh vegetables and canned...) I guess this would be a great local bar, but I do have to warn you, don't show up hungry. You will be waiting for a while with slow service.

Ate here last night and was so good had to come back tonight to try the new year's special menu. Fantastic! Didn't think it was possible to be better than the first time we came but somehow they pulled it off! Had the guacamole tonight and it didn't disappoint. The queso with chorizo was so good the first time so had to order again. So far we've had the carne asada, mar & Tierra, and pork carnitas. All just amazing. Definitely not a Tex-Mex place so don't expect a combo meal, this place is very special. So glad it came here to stone ridge!!
(5)April S.
The guacamole is absolutely AMAZING! Kids meals are great too! I love this place!

I've visited this restaurant three times and I've come to the conclusion that it is just alright. Nothing amazing, but nothing that will stop me from coming every once in a while. The first time I just got the food to go...carne asada with rice & sweet corn tamal...I thought it was pretty good. The steak was well seasoned and cooked just right. The portion was a bit small, but I felt satisfied after finishing the meal, so I wasn't too worried. The second time I actually ate at the restaurant and ordered carne asada again. The steak came out on a HUGE plate...but a teeny tiny piece of carne asada. I probably devoured it in a minute...and I'm a small girl. The service was mehh...took a while for a server to even help us. We had originally called a few days before asking if they served happy hour on Saturdays...their answer was yes...we got there and they said nope only Sunday-Friday. They tricked us...haha so we just stayed and ate anyways. I went again yesterday during happy hour and the deals are great! However...I ordered one carnitas taco and one steak taco...the carnitas wasn't bad...I don't really like the tortillas they serve them on though...the steak taco had no flavor. My brother and sister really enjoyed the chicken tostadas. Again the service was average. The manager is extremely friendly, but that's about it. Other servers are usually on their cell phones.

Not too big a fan of the salsa, but the food and the service made it worthwhile. I got the carne asada tacos-DELICIOUS. I can't even begin to tell you how great the staff was..our server was a sweetheart-knowledgeable about the menu and different drinks, very nice and attentive, and kid friendly. We had about three different staff members come by to ask us how our food was, bring us refills, and make sure we had everything we had without being too overbearing. Will definitely be coming back!!
(4)Christine N.
This place is awesome. This food is very authentic, from the menu selections, to the sauces. They cook everything fresh to order. The blonde hostess (sorry dont know her name) is so sweet. She always hugs us when we come in, she is bubbly and energetic. Viviana, well, what can I say, is probably the best server I have ever had. She always remembers our favorites down to the no salt on our guacamole. The two guys that run this place really work hard to make every guest feel welcome. They are always there, and food is fantastic! Try the guacamole that they make fresh for you at the table in volcanic ash bowls. Very cool! You can also have it exactly the way you like, spicy, mild or regular, with extra cilantro is great. They not only have everything on the menu, they will make something special for you, per your request. is our favorite waitress too, we always ask fo her, she remembers everything we like! You really have to try this place, you'll be pretty impressed!

Where is Mr. Sanabria, the manager? This place is a mish-mash of nonexistent decor, somewhat excellent food and overworked servers who didn't have a clue on how to serve professionally. If you get the groupon deal, it's worth trying but I would not pay full price. Good points are the list of tequilas with a tasting menu from $9-$15 for three shots. I finally got sip of a fine Patron that I would never spend $110.00 for a bottle on. The mole sauce was excellent with hints of chile and chocolate. It tasted home made. The sweet corn cake was very good and wrapped with love in a ribboned husk. The bad points....please Mr. Manager Sanabria, can I help you make the place more inviting? I feel as if we are eating in an empty bowling alley. Close off half the space and advertise it as a private room. Put in a banquette or two and some murals of Che or Caesar Chavez or Simon Bolivar. Even a crepe paper piñata could liven up the space. The service was hit and miss. It would be nice to have a small plates on the table and salt shakers when you first arrive. Maybe having your server self identify by name or wearing a distinctive color accessory would help. There were three servers on duty plus an underdressed runner on duty. We were never sure whom to ask for and it did lead to confusion. All were very busy but in a flummox of duties which included mixing drinks which they had no idea about. They produced the absolutely worst mexican coffee I have ever had. The place has potential and I would love to see it succeed. It just needs some visible leadership.

What a great little gem in a pretty much ordinary location. You can tell that the food is made from scratch and that the people here pay attention to details. Our server Olivia did a great job of noticing us as first time guests and made some great recommendations. Chips and salsa were solid and the tequila selection was enormous. Carne Asada was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Had a great texture and wasn't too chewy which tends to happen to skirt steak. Carmita's were very moist and tender. My only problem was that they had a strange taste of cinnamon and some other spice that for me was personally hard to eat. The manager/owner JC came by and made sure everything was OK and that we had enjoyed our experience. He thanked us for coming and seemed to be very genuine. Only other complaint was the strange decoration / design and layout of the place. Hard to explain unless you go there and see for yourself but you will know what I am talking about once you walk in.
(4)Alison H.
Just moved to Aldie and had several people tell us about this place. The food is awesome and the happy hour deals are great! This will definitely be a place we go often!
(5)Barefootwoman S.
This is a great break from all the usual chain food we find in this neighborhood. The staff is friendly and the food is good and pricing is more than fair. We've eaten here at least 10 times, with only 1 bad experience where a dish was off in freshness and staff was overwhelmed and busy - the rest of the time, it has been great.
(4)Chris D.
My wife and I were in the mood for Mexican. We decided to try out this local spot. We walked in for an early dinner (5:30) and the place was almost empty. Somewhat concerning but we took a chance because of past reviews. It appeared as though the staff was all kids. Young kids at that. The hostess and the waitress had a little teen age tiff in front of about something before seating us. We were seated next to a young family that had two kids. At one point the four year old was standing on her booster chair waving a knife around in the air. I know its not the restaurant's fault but it just helps set the tone. My wife orders a glass of wine. It arrived In a timely manner but was stale. They did replace it for her. We took the waitresses advice as to what was good to eat on the menu. The problem was, when it arrived it was nothing like she described. Even missing key ingredients she said it was supposed to have. When asked about it she said, "oh I always ask for the extra stuff that's not in there". Our fault. All and all the food was so-so. I would rather see them go and make room for a better restaurant.
(2)Patrick G.
Now this is good Mexican. This was our third visit and both the food and the service seem to be improving. The empanadas are fantastic. Carnitas may be the best I have ever had. My kids both like the chicken taquitos. We were there at kind of an off time but service was fast and friendly. The manger checked in us and was happy to talk about how some of the dishes prepared. Overall it was a great experience.
(5)Tom Y.
Terrible....stay away. Portions were small and the waitress was extremely rude. Will never ever ever be back.
(1)Doug B.
Great food, wonderful drinks, and an owner who cares. We love T'Kila for the casual atmosphere, but mostly for the terrific (and authentic) Mexican cuisine. The fresh guacamole is incredible: made for your table from ripe avocados and spiced to your request (mild, medium, hot); that dish is usually found only at 4-star (and much more expensive) restaurants. The owner is a terrific bartender: try any of the mexican drinks, and you won't be disappointed; the sangria is also wonderful. The entree selection is limited, but every dish we've had is made with excellent ingredients, very fresh, and authentic (not smothered in fake cheeses or sauces). For a real treat, try the Chicken Mole Poblano -- incredible mole sauce! Finally the desserts are also fresh and tasty. The fish tacos are also fresh and excellent. This is a locally owned business with an owner who puts in long hours running the restaurant himself. He cares about each and every customer, and service is almost always quick and extremely friendly. As a small business owner, I feel these kind of businesses deserve our support when they do a great job. The reviewer who complained about Groupons needs to get a life: Groupon is a very expensive (for businesses) and cost-losing way to advertise. This restaurant is NOT expensive to begin with; the Groupon offers 50% off, meaning the owner is losing money. Some people seem to think it's a way for them to just take money from small businesses, rather than (as it should be) a way to try a new business -- and give them a fair shake. If all you want is cheap, eat at Burger King. If you want real food and personal service, please give local owners a chance. Thank you.
(5)Lindsey S.
Went for lunch on a Sunday. We were the only people there (which made me skeptical), but it was sooooo good!! The food was delicious and the owner was a super nice guy. Will definitely be going back!
(5)Hillary S.
This place gets 2 stars because their steak tacos and spicy guacamole were really good. However, we were sat at a table, when I asked about drink specials they were only available at the bar, and since we were out for my birthday dinner, we asked to switched to a bar table so we could have happy hour prices, which are very good 3 dollar margaritas! BUT, we had a specialicious coupon that was 30 dollars off FOOD, excludes alcohol, but that's a given, they always exclude alcohol. When our check was brought to us, we had been charged full price for our margaritas, $6.50, when I asked about it they told me that the specialicious coupon couldn't be combined with any other offers. Last time I checked Happy Hour is a set price until a certain time. I don't know how you can pick and choose who gets discounts on their drinks. But as I said earlier, this shouldn't have been an issue at all, considering my coupon was to be used on food only, and we did not have any food specials or offers. I even asked if the drinks could be seperated so we could use the coupon for its intended use to get a discount on the food. They refused because we were sitting at the same table. Being a waitress myself I know how those specials work, for instance if it was taco tuesday and we all got tacos then we couldn't use the coupon, but since it excludes alcohol, it doesn't matter how much it costs, happy hour is happy hour. So in conclusion, the food is pretty good. If you want happy hour make sure you sit at the bar, and also make sure you don't use any kind of coupon that says "can't be combined with any other offer" even if its only good for food. I only ended up saving 10 dollars, and I paid 12 dollars for the coupon.

We love T'KiLa- my boyfriend and I go at least once a week for Happy Hour and usually several times a month for a regular dinner. The food never disappoints (make SURE you try the guacamole, it's made fresh at your table and always tastes amazing) I've had almost everything on the menu between our visits and work luncheons my company has had here. The happy hour prices are amazing for the amount of food you get. The 'ritas are BANGING as well- but if you name your place T'kila I guess they'd better be! The servers have always been attentive and friendly when I've been here.
(5)J H.
My wife and I frequent this Mexican restaurant often. There have been many restaurants in this location come and go but it is nice to see that T'kila will stay. They have the best happy hour deals and great Margaritas
(4)Laura D.
We were on our way home from Dulles, & walked in @ 10:15, even though the sign on the door said serving 'till 10. Sure! Come on in! Instantly impressed. We had a wonderful meal, service was never rushed even @ the late hour. The Carne Asada is flavorful, perfectly grilled & tender. The Tacos alPastor is the perfect blend of pineapple and pork. The margaritas were great - no chemical taste which makes me crazy! They make their own squeezed lime & a generous drink. Portions were also generous, everything fresh. We are eager to work our way through the entire menu on future visits!
(5)Aaron M.
Been three times and loved all three experiences. Most fresh cooked to order mexican food in the area. Can attest for the Fajitas, tacos, carnita's Guacamole and sweet corn tamale, also the nachos are enormous and delicious. Chips and salsa are great, huge selection of tequila but the best part is truly the food, its not processed big batch prepared food which is found in most mexican restaurants as it is not a chain. Fresh made to order, and definitely a step above its competitions. Deserts not on par with the rest of the menu as far as quality but we usually dont have room anyway:):) If you like latin food definitely give it a whirl and of course is your a tequila lover it has way more options than the local ABC store.
(4)Eddie P.
Bought the groupon... didn't disappoint. Will be back.
(5)J R.
Everything is fresh and homemade! It was our first time and our first experience with Mexican (nothing to compare) but I can speak to its fresh food! They bring you nachos with salsa. The app of nachos and quesedia were very yummy! The nacho plate was huge(four ppl). We had the carne asada (skirt steak-so tender), shrimp diablo( with pineapples which cut the heat) and chicken. I am in love with their tamale's and want to find some locally The trs leche cake is a very spongy cake with homemade leche (caramel). The churos were baked fresh and soft inside. The service was good, kids food came first which we like! Only downside desserts came out a few min apart and the menu is in Spanish with no English explanation of what is in it. Very good!
(5)Chris P.
I love mexican and was pumped when I saw this place open. The food isn't the best I've had, but it's definitely solid. It's a bit pricey for what you get and the ambience is a bit awkward.
(3)Mark S.
I went for happy hour with my kids. Half price margaritas and other drinks. Good deal on food. Overall good service and food. We will be back. I would suggest the lights be a little lower in the bar area (little bright). Also, they just added high top tables to the bar area. This place looks like it could be great for happy hour
